New investments in our fleet - Arriva Italia

Arriva Italia invests 123 million euros and renews its fleet with 550 buses

Milan, 9 June – Arriva Italia – an Italian company controlled by the German Deutsche Bahn, one of the world leaders in passenger transport services – has published a tender document for the launch of a three-year framework agreement for the purchase of 550 buses.

The new vehicles will be distributed throughout northern Italy, among the subsidiaries in Lombardy, Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, as well as in Trieste and Como.

This is an investment of over 123 million euros, aimed at enhancing the offer of Italian local public transport.

It is a doubly important investment for Arriva Italia, – declares Angelo Costa, CEO of Arriva Italia – both for the size of its scope and because we are realizing it at a time when it is essential to give a strong signal to relaunch the the entire Italian economic and industrial system, including the local public transport sector. It’s a brave choice that makes me particularly proud.

The new latest generation vehicles will be used in both urban and suburban routes. In particular, as regards urban vehicles, Arriva Italia has chosen models with a completely lowered platform powered by diesel or CNG with low environmental impact. Always on diesel or gas will be, however, the buses used in suburban routes.

The tender procedure is organized in 10 separate lots, each corresponding to a specific type of bus. Each lot will be made the subject of a separate award and a specific framework agreement for a total of 123.815 million euros with delivery 12 months from the date of the order.

The Arriva group companies that will benefit from the tender are: Arriva SAVDA (Val D’Aosta), Arriva SADEM (Turin), Arriva SAB (Bergamo and Lecco), Arriva SIA (Brescia), Arriva KM (Cremona), SAF Autoservizi FVG (Udine), Arriva Veneto and the subsidiaries ASF (Como) and Trieste Trasporti. The deadline for interested parties to submit their tender is July 31st.
